The Priesthood and Family Department, located at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City, currently offers writing internships for children and youth curriculum development. These four-month internships are offered throughout the year. We are currently hiring for the positions running from January through April (winter). These hourly paid internships pay between $12.00 and $17.00 an hour, depending on degree and level of experience. The internship is 40 hours a week for the four-month period. Medical benefits are offered. Position is located at the Church Office Building.
The Youth Content Writer intern writes and edits content for a forthcoming Church app that will be part of the worldwide Children and Youth program that will begin in 2020. Candidates should have a background or interest in creative writing. The intern will write and adapt content and activities to appeal primarily to a youth audience and create content directed toward children, young adults, and parents. Duties include writing, researching and compiling content from LDS.org and other sources, and editing and critiquing the work of other interns. The best candidates will be willing to explore new ideas and think outside the box.
Applicants for these internships must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university, or they must have recently finished a degree from an accredited college or university (within six months of beginning their internship). Applicants must also be available, at their own expense, for possible in-person interviews at our Salt Lake City location if they are selected as finalists.
Applicants who are working toward a Communication, English, or Editing major or minor are preferred. Other qualifications include the following:• At least one semester of college-level editing or writing experience, such as on a newspaper staff, on the internet, or in a writing lab• Ability to think creatively• Strong reporting, writing, revising, copyediting, and proofreading skills• Sound understanding of Church doctrine, history, organization, and policy• Ability to manage many projects simultaneously• Ability to give careful attention to detail, sustain concentration, and maintain the highest level of accuracy• Ability to work well with people and present an image of professionalism
Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
